Weekly happenings: February 24 - March 2
Maybe time to stop telling you where I'll be every day
After much debate, I’ve decided to retire my 👅 designation for events I’m attending each week. It did wonders for my social life with friends spontaneously joining me, but it’s hard to keep up (things happen!!) and probably not the best idea now that the letter has grown considerably beyond friends of friends. I’ll still be at many these and LOVE to meet readers. Reach out if you’re planning to attend. Or, send me a retroactive review! In any given week I’ve vetted and personally visited ~80% of event hosts but any feedback on who to keep in rotation is helpful. I’ll keep the ⭐ for events I’m particularly excited about. That’s probably a good enough hint of where I’ll be anyway.
Monday February 24
⭐ Endless Cookie: Screening & Discussion
MoMA | 6:30pm at 11 W 53rd St, Manhattan
Join directors Seth Scriver and Peter Scriver for the New York debut of their film Endless Cookie. The film takes us on a wild ride with the half-brothers Scriver—Peter is the Indigenous kid, Seth the white one—as they journey back to 1980s Toronto and the icily remote regions of Shamattawa, a First Nations community in northern Manitoba, in search of family ties and divides. While it has elements of comedy, it’s also a pretty damning indictment of the way Canada treats its Indigenous peoples. The screening will be followed by a conversation with the filmmakers. Tickets are $14 and include museum admission.

Recs of the week
Places or shows I discovered over the last week. These are personal recommendations. If I had a cool week, they’ll be cool. If I didn’t, they won’t.
Hungry Thirsty - Ugly Baby technically closed, but Hungry Thirsty is basically the same thing. Former chefs from the famous Thai spot opened a new restaurant in the same space last month. It’s a tight space that you’ll be in and out of quickly, but it’s yummy, spicy, and feels authentic.
A Century of The New Yorker - First, this is your reminder that the NYPL is free and a beautiful place to post up and work for the day. I get super antsy so getting to wander room to room is a major selling point relative to my apartment. Go check out their Century of The New Yorker exhibit at some point this year - it takes you on a journey back to the founding of the magazine and they have a bunch of the original artwork from iconic covers.
Winner - Been sleeping on these sandwiches for way too long. Their chicken salad on ciabatta changed my life.
Cafe Ambrosia - Artisan coffee shop in Chelsea. Really airy, Scandi-feeling interior with some of the best pastries. Also laptop-friendly (even on weekends!!) and you don’t feel crammed in at all.
mio Head Spa - The treatment at this Japanese head spa was the most relaxing experience ever. I did something that I never do and booked my next appointment before leaving.
As always, message me with any events you try out or any recommendations for next week!
⭐ = events I am particularly excited about
everything else = things I am still really excited about
Love this! Just booked the Mio massage
Lululemon is a great Canadian 🇨🇦store !
Fouquet’s evening sounds fabulous.
